Meet Melissa Longley, LMSW, LCSW

With over 30 years of clinical and administrative experience, Melissa Longley has dedicated her career to helping individuals and families navigate life’s most challenging seasons. She offers care at the highest level with a straightforward, compassionate approach, evidenced by a proven success rate and maintained relationships much like a family practice. Her work has spanned from in-patient phsyciatric, addiction treatment, chronic homelessness, correctional treatments, hospice care, and private practice—giving her a deep understanding of resilience, healing, and human connection. Her experties even expand into forensics services, serving individuals involved in complicated criminal and court matters.

My Journey in Counseling

A lifelong commitment to helping others heal, grow, and find hope.

Began working at Madison Center in inpatient psychiatric care as a Mental Health Counselor during undergraduate studies.

After obtaining a B.A. in Psychology, transitioned into Community Case Management in the welfare-to-work program at Real Services, earning front-page recognition in the South Bend Tribune for humanitarian work.

In 1998, began a career in addictions treatment at Westville Correctional Facility; later managed Life Treatment Centers and served as Drug Court/CSAP Coordinator in 2004.

Completed graduate-school internships at the Center for the Homeless, Hospice, and Michigan Area Schools, contributing to grant funding and program evaluation.

Established first clinical practice at the Haelan Center of Niles for licensure supervision.

Founded M. Longley Counseling PLLC in 2010 as a fully licensed clinical and macro social worker.

Ancillary provider for local courts and attorneys honoring the mission of reducing recidivism
